Association of Nigeria has elected Clive Omoniyi as the Chairman of the Nigeria
LNG branch of the association.
A statement on Tuesday explained that Omoniyi emerged after defeating two other contestants, Allswell Green and Barry Nwizug in a keenly contested election during the fourth Triennial Delegates Conference of the branch at Bonny Island, Rivers State.
According to the oil workers’ association, Edith Hart emerged as Vice Chairman; Edokpa Joshua as the secretary, Arinze Akpuokwe as the assistant secretary, Ayeni Emmanuel the treasurer.
It added that Jude Ozenne was elected as the Industrial Relations Officer, Ayibode Ayodele the financial secretary, and Orok Orok the publicity secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Omoniyi urged other elected officers to imbibe the team spirit to enable them to tackle the industry and labour relations issues in the country as well as the internal and external politics they would encounter as trade unionists and citizens of Nigeria.
He promised to uphold the ideals of constructive engagement with the management on job security of the association members, adding that the welfare of the employees which was important for the survival of the company should be paramount to their employers.
Addressing the delegates, the President, PENGASSAN, Olabode Johnson, who commended the management for their usual understanding in amicable resolution of industrial relations issues, said that unionists were change agents in their organisations.
