Dr. Kwabena Adjei, Founder of Kasapreko Company
Limited, makers of the hugely popular Alomo Bitters was among those honoured
with the award of West African Personality of the year by the African Travel
Market at its maiden Weizo Accra Conference which held at the prestigious La
Palm Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
The conference with the theme “Seamless Travels
in West Africa” brought together key players in the tourism and aviation
industry within the sub-region to deliberate on the development and promotion of
tourism.
Speaking at the event, the Founder, Kasapreko
Company Limited, Dr. Kwabena Adjei said: “Kasapreko is a 100% African company;
and its flagship brand, the hugely popular Alomo Bitters is a 100% African
drink. In the past when foreigners think of Ghana, the only things that came to
mind were Kente Cloth and the Black Stars. Today, they also think Alomo Bitters
when they think of not just Ghana and Nigeria alone but of Africa as a whole.
And the fact this global appeal was recognized by no other than CNN gives me and
the company great pride because it shows that we Africans are capable of great
achievements that are home grown”.
Receiving the award of West African Personality
of the Year, Dr. Kwabena Adjei enjoined all key players in tourism within the
sub-region to always give visitors a truly African experience. In his words:
“when our foreign guests come, it is to experience the heartbeat of mother
Africa; so we must do our best to enable them feel our rich culture in terms of
hospitality, music, food and drink. They must know they are in Africa and not
just a replica of a similar facility in Europe.”
Other notable personalities similarly honored at
the event were the Executive Governor Of Cross Rivers State ably represented by
the Deputy Governor, Professor Evara Esu; the Ghanaian Minister of Tourism
Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; Senator Florence
Ita Giwa; and Ambassador Wanle Akinboboye of La Campagne Tropicana Resorts
