MILWAUKEE, WI - APRIL 30: Khris Middleton #22 of the Milwaukee Bucks handles the ball against the Chicago …
A person with direct knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press that the Milwaukee Bucks have reached agreement with restricted free agent Khris Middleton on a five-year, $70 million contract.
The Bucks and Middleton came to agreement early Wednesday, a few hours after the free agent market opened. The person requested anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced.
Middleton's breakout was one of the main factors in the Bucks becoming one of the surprise teams in the league last year. He averaged 13.4 points and shot 40 percent from 3-point range in his third season.
Middleton was a second-round pick of Detroit in 2012. He has blossomed into a versatile and important small forward for the Bucks.
ESPN first reported the agreement.
