The Lionel Messi mix, Shaquille O’Neal back at school and a hot dog
This week’s round-up also features a chance to take the offside test, table tennis endurance, an unhappy Cleveland fan, big goals and Roland Rat going racing

1) “You can win if you dare!” Interesting piece of sport soundtracking with this powerpoptastic compilation of Andrei Kanchelskis performing to the Transformers movie soundtrack. Of course it’s the tip of the iceberg really. Here’s Lionel Messi v Ronaldinho to some epic showdown music; Messi again with his 2014 World Cup best bits cut to a house-come-drum and bass mix all of his own; Gareth Bale, er, freestyling; comedy clips set to ska and then the somewhat surreal compilation of former Pop Will Eat Itself frontman Clint Mansell’s theme from the film Requiem For A Dream alongside the poetry of Sri Chimnoy. Best of the bunch by a country mile however is this little mash-up: commentator meets Paul Scholes, meets Eye of the Tiger.
2) Shaquille O’Neal goes back to high school. In Korea. Baffling but brilliant, especially for the priceless moment of the kids faces when he fist bumps them at one minute in.
3) Fantastic finish. No, wait, wrong end. And another simple task here at the end of the Featherstone v Batley rugby league match. Just put the ball into touch. What could go wrong?
4) Answer all the questions in our You are the Ref strip? Fancy something harder? Try these Pro assistant referee offside tests. There’s no sound so sticking to the music theme, how about watching while listening to this reminder why Half Man Half Biscuit are one of Britain’s greatest bands: The Referee’s Alphabet.
5) Turns out the Biscuits had it covered with Even Men With Steel Hearts Love To See A Dog On The Pitch too and here with one of the finest examples of the genre: “The fastest wiener in El Paso”, as little legs and a lot of energy run and run and run.
6) Finally: bash, bop, bash, bop, bash, bop etc. Big hitting meets a steely defence in this glorious 91-shot table tennis rally from Adrien Mattenet and Par Gerell.
1) After the Rumble in the Jungle, George Foreman took on Ron Lyle in an absolute slugfest – full fight and highlights.
2) A Cleveland Browns fan articulates the feelings that everyone has had at some point. Including a great payoff line.
3) Suk Hyun-jun bangs in a rocket for Vitória Setubal in their 4-0 victory against Associação Académica de Coimbra in the Portugese Primeira Liga; he started his career at Ajax where, younger and with longer hair, he also had the moves.
4) The late Roland Ratzenberger showing another reason he is much-missed: having a great sense of humour in agreeing to take part in “The Race of the Century” with, well, who else but Roland Rat. The puppet is driving a customised 1953 Ford Anglia, sprayed pink but Ratzenberger is wise to his scheming: “You are trying to slow me up. You are a cheat Mr Rat ...”
5) “Where am I? What about me?” Clearly the glorious cyber future is not quite ready to replace the real thing as this hapless demonstration of virtual reality football between Norwegian Premier League sides Sandefjord and Mjondalen proves.
