Police arrest Stowaway at Lagos airport

The Murtala Muhammed Airport yesterday recorded an incident involving a man attempting to stow away on board a Med View Airline aircraft.
According to information gathered, the stowaway man had successfully hid himself in the tyre compartment of the aircraft which was ready for taxing from the private terminal otherwise known as MMA2 at the airport.

The eagle eye of the pilot caught him when he was doing the last inspection round the plane before taxing to take off.
The man whose age was put at around 25 years was at once apprehended and handed over to the police at the domestic airport.
During the interrogation, he confessed to have been hibernating around the airport for two weeks trying to achieve his purpose.
The stowaway was said to have confessed that he did what he did out of desperation to leave the country for another one in search of greener pasture.
When asked how he managed to find his way into the tyre compartment of the aircraft, he declared that he jumped through the fence that demarcated the VIP  from the tarmac where the plane was waiting for clearance for take off.
When  contacted, an officer from the airport police, though he said he did not have the authority to speak, but he confirmed the incident.
He however said the stowaway has been handed over to  Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further questioning.
