Buhari respects rule-of-law, due process, says Amaechi

Posted by Popoola Babalola
“I am very hopeful that everybody involved in one electoral malpractice or the other will be brought to book so that people will have respect for the law,” he said

Muhammadu Buhari Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers said on Sunday that the president-elect had respect for rule-of-law and due process as a democrat.
Amaechi disclosed this at a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt organised by the campaign organisation of Dr Dakuku Peterside, Rivers gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded general elections.
The service was to celebrate God’s faithfulness throughout the election period.
He urged supporters of the APC to prepare their petitions against those that compromised the elections in the state and perpetrated different forms of malpractices.
According to Amaechi, the president-elect is a man of rule of law who will not punish anybody without due process.
“The only thing you have to do is to ask officially as a party, as an individual for a proper investigation of what happened in the state
“I am very hopeful that everybody involved in one electoral malpractice or the other will be brought to book so that people will have respect for the law,” he said.
Amaechi urged members and supporters of the APC in the state not to be distracted by the temporary setback but to remain focused on God to deliver the state.
He thanked God for giving victory to the president-elect in the presidential election.
Also speaking, Peterside recalled his ordeal and thanked God for his faithfulness.
He urged his supporters to thank God for sparing their lives all through the elections as his ambition to be governor was not worth the life of any human being.
Apostle George Izunwa of the Gateway International Church in Port Harcourt said God remained the same when man mistook temporary setback as the end.
Izunwa said that the will of God would always stand no matter the time the trial would take.
He urged the supporters of APC to put their hope in God and pray for the party, state and the nation. (NAN).
