President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the relocation of the Defence Headquarters to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Buhari gave the order in his maiden address to the nation after his inauguration.
The President said the relocation was to give the needed bite to the fight against Boko Haram.
Maiduguri is the headquarters of the Boko Haram sect and it was where the late founder, Mohammed Yusuf, hailed from.
Buhari said until the fight against Boko Haram is won, the military high command will remain in Maiduguri.
He said the major challenge now is the rescue alive of the kidnapped Chibok girls.
Buhari promised to combat the Boko Haram menace and also kidnapping and armed robbery.
He equally said he would tackle head on the challenge of erratic power supply.
He said with over $20 billion spent on power supply between 1999 and now, his government cannot watch Nigerians continue to suffer from inadequate power supply.
He promised to revive railway, roads and general infrastructure.
