Gunmen on Tuesday in Zaki-Biam killed a former lawmaker, Douglas Begha and two other persons in Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Several other people were also injured in the
attack
The trio including Begha were murdered in his
home at Kendev Village, on Kilometer three, Zaki-Biam road, in the presence of
his 12 year old son who was also shot by the gunmen who stormed his residence on
a motorbike.
Confirming the incident, Deputy Police Public
Relations Officer, Matthew Oku, an Assistant Superintendent (ASP), said the
Police in the area received information of the attack at about 8pm.
He said the gunmen, while escaping also shot and
killed a cyclist, wounded the passenger he was carrying, snatched his motorcycle
and fled.
“The Police have recovered the corpses of the
dead and deposited same at St. Anthony’s hospital Zaki Biam, while the injured
persons are responding to treatment.”
Oku stated that the Commissioner of Police in the
state, Dibal Yakadi, had already stepped into the matter adding that
investigation into the killings was in progress.
