If there’s one person that can provide tips on traveling world, it’s Gunnar Garfors. He’s been to every one of the 198 countries in the world. Here are three items he suggests you should always have on you that you might not have considered.
Obviously you need things like your passport, and some travel-friendly clothing, but Garfors revealed to Sarah Schmalbruch at Business Insider some items that he swears by:

  1. Printed itinerary: Some airports don’t accept electronic tickets (and may not tell you ahead of time), and a bundle of papers is a lot safer than carrying around an expensive laptop or tablet.
  2. Pen: Many countries require you to fill out forms to enter or do certain things as a foreigner, and this can take a long time. If you have your own pen, you can speed up the process because you won’t have to wait to borrow one. Plus you’ll need one for your...
  3. Notepad/notebook: You might need help or directions somewhere, but only encounter people that don’t speak English (or any of the languages you know). In that event, you can draw what you need or where you need to go.
Garfors emphasizes that taking expensive gadgets to some countries is a bad idea in general. Locals might identify you as a wealthy traveler and try to overcharge you for services, or even worse, you might be robbed. Now that you know what you should bring, get out there! There’s no reason to wait.
