Fayose’s wife pays N.5m indigent patients’ bills

The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose, has donated N500,000.00 to settle the hospital bills of indigent patients at the State Specialists Hospital, in Ikere Ekiti.
Mrs. Fayose, who presented cheques of N50,000 each to 10 patients, and N40,000 and N10,000 to two others, said the gesture was part of the Fayose’s government to give qualitative health care to needy patients in the state.
She promised that with the maximum support of her husband, more persons would benefit from the programme.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Sunday Omoya, who commended the wife of the governor for the kind gesture, said the donation “has brought a major impact to the hospital.”
Omoya added that majority of the beneficiaries were post-surgeries patients who could not pay their bills.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Hospital Management Board, Dr. David Aina, appealed to the state government to assist the hospital to get accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
He said, “We are trying to upgrade the space in the hospital for upcoming doctors to operate here. We desire that this place be upgraded to where fresh doctors can train.”
