Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - The president of the Venezuelan Medical Federation (FMV), Douglas Leon Natera, complains about the current shortage of drugs across the country and said that according to data of the Federation of Pharmacists of Venezuela more than 70% of drugs are not on the market.
"In the metropolitan area there is an absence of almost 70% and in other places of Venezuela more than 70%. Therefore to reduce fever in a child you cannot find an antipyretic easily.
The situation becomes very critical for the hundreds of patients who cannot discontinue treatment due to an organ transplant. The international press reports the cases of several people who have started using drugs for animals in the absence of human ones, especially those to prevent the rejection of transplanted organs.
